Group Report Backs

1.  Spiritual Concepts – Sunday Afternoon New Farm

  • The meeting is running, with lots of home group members with varied clean time.
  • The group is financial and will be fund flowing subject to a group conscience.
  • The group is buying literature and the rent is up to date.

2.  Tuesday Night Spring Hill Steps and Traditions

  • This group continues to do well.
  • Attendance is strong with 25 – 30 members a week.
  • Group is financial and paid up in rent.
  • All service positions are filled.
  • Has a really good atmosphere of recovery.
  • 15 home group members that attend regularly.
  • Group has sufficient literature.
  • The group has about hundred dollars in the kitty.
  • Group will be having a group conscience soon in order to determine how much to fund flow.
    • Didn’t have a group conscience last month due to the unity weekend.
  • Group is made up of primarily of males and so are looking for more female members.

3.  Wednesday Night Rainbow Recovery New Farm

  • Has an attendance of roughly 37 members per week.
  • A great atmosphere of recovery.
  • Group is financial:
    • Rent is paid until the end of June 2019.
    • Literature purchase of $220.
    • Fund flowed $100 in June.
    • $168 prudent reserve.
  • Has a large number of home group members, with a core group of 5 attending each week.
  • All service positions are filled.
  • At the end of May 2019 when the Community Centre is unavailable (renovations), the venue will change to the 860 Brunswick Street venue provided by Communify.
  • Looking at changing the time to 6:30 pm at the same time as the venue change to minimise disruption.
  • The group has set up a Gmail account.

4.  Tuesday Night West End

  • The group is in the process of securing a new venue and move date.
  • Will be announcing in the coming weeks.
  • Rent will be vastly cheaper, so the group is looking forward to fund flowing in the future.

5.  Friday Night Women’s Strength and Sponsorship Meeting Bowen Hills

  • This new meeting is going really well.
  • Averaging 10 – 15 members per week.
  • Had the first group conscience during the second week where all the service positions were delegated.
  • Averaging a seventh of $10-$20 a week.
  • The rent is up to date.
  • The group has no literature or key tags at the moment, so it is looking for support from other members or home groups who can help with donations.
  • Members have been really responsive to the fact that this meeting is one with a strong focus on sponsorship.

6.  Farsi / Persian Meeting – Wednesday Spring Hill

  • Farsi meeting is good.
  • Group has fund flowed $25.

7.  Lunchies

  • Mandy has taken over as secretary for the Lunchies
  • The main thing happening with the Lunchies is the venue change.
    • Moving date is the 27th
    • Changing the time until the 1:15 to maintain anonymity.

Previous GSF Topics

1.  Fund flowing

  • In accordance with tradition four (4), this forum’s function is simply to support the ability of groups to fund flow.
  • Instructions how to fund flow
    • were published in the minutes of the last GSF.
    • on the website.
    • BICR attended groups that requested to support fund flowing activities.
  • Farsi meeting has fund flowed $25.
  • Other groups are taking this to their next group conscience.

2.  Unity weekend wrap up

  • Final wrap up of the unity weekend.
  • The weekend made approximately $4,400 for Greater Queensland.
    • The art auction alone brought in $1,600.
  • Running another one next year is a given.
  • We will definitely need someone with a significant amount of experience to run it next year.
  • Jason T will contact Jenny W for the artefacts.
  • Next year’s unity weekend should be put on the agenda for the next GSF.

3.  Regional Service Committee (RSC) Speaker Jam

  • Nicole O is moving back to the Gold Coast and need to understand if there is anything happening with the speaker jam.
  • If we want to do this then we have to find a venue.
  • RSC is definitely being held on the 20th July.
  • Up to us if we want to do something.
  • There is 5 weeks to find a venue and plan the speaker jam.
  • Jason T to contact Nicole about the status of this.
    • Text the result to attendees of the GSF.
    • Perhaps it could be pulled off with a venue and coffee and cake refreshments.

New GSF Topics

1.  Proposal for a New Women’s Meeting

  • Need to announce the fact that the new women’s meeting is looking for support from other members or financial home groups.
  • The group is in need of Key Tags and Literature.

2.  Greater Queensland Service Board Update

  • LSC Service is scheduled in August in Bardon.
  • Some updates are in progress with a committee to talk through changes to the website.
  • Discussion around H and I and PR week.
  • Naming of the area was discussed.
  • Darwin update.
  • Square success.
  • The board fund flowed $5,000 to region with a really healthy prudent reserve.

3.  New Farm Community Center venue

  • The last day for the use of the New Farm Community Center is on 27th June 2019.
  • Groups can then use the new venue of 860 Brunswick Street, New Farm.
  • Announce the fact that the venue is changing and that members want more information about this to see the home group members.

4.  Next Group Support Forum

  • The next GSF will be hosted by Friday Night Women’s Strength and Sponsorship Bowen Hills.
  • Sunday, 14th July 2019; 2:00 pm at the Sands Building, 505 Bowen Terrace, New Farm.
