GSF MINUTES – Monday 1st Feb. 2021

Old business
Meredith mentioned that obtaining clearance into prisons was taking 4 – 5 months.The public service organisation in charge of prisons has suggested submitting the clearance forms to each particular facility rather than to the overarching authority. This could speed up clearance although we are yet to experiment.
New Business
Group reports
Caboolture (Sunday) – Good attendance (20+ people), have money for BBQ and literature, the time of the meeting has changed to 4 – 5.30pm
Caboolture Friday – Attendance (13+), costs are covered, rent paid until April
Ningi (Tuesday)– Attendance 15 people, question asked about the responsibilities of a GSR
Caboolture Womens (Saturday morning) – 8/9 people, awaiting starter pack from FSO, described as a ‘good, intimate meeting’
Redcliffe (Thurs) – Attendance 8 -10, donation of $100 to area., 4 group members
Sandgate (Friday) – Attendance 15 -20, back to face to face meeting only, fully financial
Strathpine (Monday) – Attendance variable (7- 35), fully financial, donation to area of $200, plenty of literature.
Information on Salvos Rehab

It was mentioned that the Salvos may be cutting the bus service to meetings. This would put the onus on members to offer people lifts to meetings.
Meredith mentioned that this is a service that happened in the past and that maybe it could be revived.
John to contact Salvos to verify the above.

BBQ

20/2/21, 10 – 2pm, Ningi to bring fruit with Asha and Rose to organise. This was a request from Sandgate who had a number of responsibilities already.
Mel will attend the pier at 8am to secure tables. Any other people from other groups are also welcome to keep Mel company.

Caboolture Mental Health
Meredith had literature for the Unit. John to check with Wilsen if we can store the box of literature at the facility. At the time of writing the minutes, Wilsen has approved the book storage.
The hours have also changed to 6 – 7pm.
