Acknowledgement of Country

NA Australia acknowledges that we meet on Aboriginal Land. We recognize the strength, resilience and capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people. Australia comprises many Aboriginal and Torres Strait nations. We would like to acknowledge all of the traditional custodians of the land within Australia.

We pay respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Elders past and present.

Cairns Convention Update – Adam: NANASA Convention Chair

• No committee meetings since last update
• Asking for assistance for Auction sub-committee
• Still got a fair few raffle tickets left and has put a link on NA website to buy raffle tickets
• 36 registrations; 25 paid, 11 unpaid
• Townsville has a group of about 18 people attending convention, Adam been encouraging them to purchase tickets
• Mackay fellowship to be attending convention
• Adam in touch with local rehabs
• Venue is wheelchair accessible

New Business:

Newseltter workgroup:

• Kelly introduced by Dillon as on the Newsletter workgroup
• Dillon states that the newsletter is a way of linking the LSB to members and groups
• Timelines and deadlines discussed for when Kelly would need information from the LSB to put into the newsletter
• Agreed to go off previous months LSB minutes and for  Kelly to filter information from the minutes into the newsletter

PR Discussion:

• Joymaree mentioned that a member from a different Area has designed 6 different designs for business cards to be taken to the Region for polling
• Discussed that it may be cheaper for groups to do printing of material at Officeworks
• Dillon said next time we will just do a SEQLD print

Discussion held around GSF workshops:

• Inner Brisbane GSF has put to the groups what workshops they want to see and and there is a plan to hold workshops every 2^nd GSF
• Four different workshop ideas discussed
• Brisbane, Toowoomba and potentially Ipswich interested in having a Building stronger Home groups workshop, Dillon to follow up as an action item
• Discussion held that we need a co-ordinator to get these workshops happening

Old Busines:

Roving ARSC Pitch:

• Dillon mentions that he had New Farm Library in mind for venue, Meredith concerned with size of space as she has experience with that space
• Concerns addressed around price of accomodation
• Discussion held around what other outer suburbs of Brisbane the weekend could take place
• Consensus that the LSB will postpone the ARSC pitch
• Attend and observe future ARSC, agreed
