The South Australian Area of Narcotics Anonymous (SANNA) Convention Sub-Committee exists to support and deliver the 2026 SANNA Convention.

Service to the convention is an opportunity to support unity, fellowship, and recovery within Narcotics Anonymous. It is a great opportunity to learn new skills while being supported in your role. Each position carries specific responsibilities as outlined in the Convention Guidebook – NA South Australia Area

Vacant Positions

Executive Committee

Position Title: Treasurer
Term: 1 year (or upon completion of event)
Clean time requirement: 5 years
Float: n/a
Duties and responsibilities: Treasurer is responsible for;

• Preparing a detailed budget of projected expenditure and income in consultation with Committee members and by reviewing past Convention budgets

• All monies collected being receipted and recorded

• Arranging and administering an appropriate ‘ticketing’ system for the Convention and ‘run up’ events to ensure that only members with sufficient clean time and accountability are handling cash

• Keeping detailed records of all financial transactions and providing these details at all committee meetings and to the ASC (upon request at any time)

• Adhering to the ASC banking policies and procedures

Position Title: Secretary
Term: 1 year (or upon completion of event)
Clean time requirement: 1 year

Duties and responsibilities: Secretary is responsible for:

• keeping minutes of all committee meetings and any subcommittee reports

• emails copy of minutes to all committee members within 1 week of committee meetings

• maintains contact details of all committee members

• any other administrative duties as required

 

Subcommittees

Position Title: Registration & Accommodation
Term: 1 year (or upon completion of event)
Clean time requirement: 2 years

Duties and responsibilities: Registration & Accommodation Subcommittee is responsible for:

• Projecting attendance based on past Convention records

• Providing a budget based on past Convention records and liaison with wider committee in setting reasonable Convention ticket prices that will cover expenditure

• Production and distribution of a suitable flier/information brochure as early as possible with Convention details and pre-registration sales information

• Selling pre-registration tickets utilising an EFT system (when possible) to avoid unnecessary cash transactions

• Keeping a detailed record of pre-paid attendees • Arranging a roster of members with sufficient clean time to service the Registration desk for the duration of the Convention

• Keeping a detailed record of any interstate or overseas visitors requesting accommodation assistance

• Liaison with wider committee to establish suitable accommodation options (i.e. local hotel/motel/caravan park or billeting)

Position Title: Programme

Duties and responsibilities: Programme Subcommittee is responsible for:

• Planning all meeting and workshop times for the duration of the Convention

• Preparing a written Convention Program that can be distributed to all attending members

• Selecting Chairpersons (two per meeting) for all meetings

• Selecting and arranging guest speakers (where applicable) for meetings

• Preparing meeting formats/preambles for all meetings

• Preparing suitable readings from NA literature for all meetings

• Coordinating Chairpersons over the course of the Convention weekend and if any ‘no-shows’ arrange a replacement Chairperson

• Provide bottled water to Chairpersons

Position Title: Catering

Duties and responsibilities: Catering Subcommittee is responsible for:

• Projecting a detailed budget for agreed meals and refreshments based on past Convention records

• Sourcing quotes from a variety of catering options before liaising with the wider committee to make a decision regarding the purchase of food and beverages

• Arranging a roster of members to service the kitchen and any tea/coffee station for the duration of the convention

• Arranging catering for any ‘run up’ events

• Projecting a detailed budget of proposed ‘run-up’ events detailing likely expenditure and income

• Setting a calendar of ‘run-up’ events in liaison with the wider committee that allows for sufficient time to plan and execute events in the 12 months prior to the convention
