Vice Chair Job Description

The vice chair will adhere to their job description as follows
Suggested clean time – 2 years
Commitment – 1 year
Prerequisites
- Membership of a Southern Sydney Area Group
- Knowledge of the Southern Sydney Area Service Committee standing policy and procedures
- Good working knowledge of 12 steps, 12 traditions and 12 concepts
- Conduct the meeting in accordance with SSASC polices and the Guide to Local Services in Narcotics Anonymous
Job Description
- Chair the meeting in accordance with Southern Sydney Area Service Committee procedures when the Chair is unavailable
- Become familiar with and use Roberts Rules, for chairing the meeting
- Prepare the agenda for the area meetings
- Ensure the following booklets are available for the Southern Sydney Area Service Committee meeting:
- A guide to Local Services in Narcotics Anonymous
- The treasurer’s handbook
- Be prepared to become one of the four co-signatories to the Southern Sydney Area Service Committee bank account
- In order to maintain financial transparency and support the treasurer in their role, check the Southern Sydney Area Service Committee bank account monthly, and assist the area treasurer with the accounts
- Help secure and set up monthly meeting venue
- Pick up the meetings lists and distribute them to the GSRs at SSASC meetings
- Keep an updated copy of the mailing/contact list (as maintained by SSASC Secretary)
- Announce end of term three months prior and orientate the incoming chair into their new role
- Be prepared to stand for the position of SSASC Chair at the end of their term.
- Hand over to the elected Vice Chair at the end of term
- This job description should be read at the commencement of their role and bi-annually
The Vice Chair will also use the booklet titled ‘A guide to Local Service in Narcotics Anonymous’ and other NA literature to assist in conducting their role in accordance with NA concepts and Traditions
