What H&I?

The purpose of a H&I committee is to carry the NA message of recovery to addicts who, due to incarceration or being in a facility, do not have access to regular NA meetings.  H&I members facilitate presentations/meetings that are intended to simply introduce those attending to some of the basics of the NA program as well as share their experience strength and hope.

H&I members may present at

  • Detox & Withdrawal Units
  • Treatment & Rehab Centres
  • Mental Health Facilities &
  • Correctional Facilities (security clearances required)

H&I Committee responsibilities sometimes overlap those of the local PR Committee. For this reason, we encourage H&I and PR Committees to closely cooperate with one another. In some areas, H&I and PR Committees regularly send one or two members to each other’s meetings to maintain communications, thereby minimising the potential duplication in these two key fields of service.

If you would like to support the H&I Committee, volunteer to be of service at the next meeting.   To find out more information email – handi.wa@na.org.au

The Hospitals and Institutions Handbook, available here gives you more information on how these important services are conducted.
