New To Service?

So you’re new to service?  Maybe you would like to be of service?  Or have you just started in a service position and not quite sure about what to do?

Welcome, do not fear, you have come to the right place.

Service is a chance to give back what was so freely given to us. The spiritual growth in helping out another addict is a valuable part of recovery.  Service can begin with talking to the newcomer; being a part of a homegroup and helping to run its meeting, joining a sub-committee like Hospitals & Institutions (H&I) or even coming along to the Area Service Committee (ASC).

Usually, we start light, find a Home Group and help out there.  As we become responsible and show accountability, our confidence begins to grow. As we get more clean time other service opportunities begin to appear. No longer are we afraid to serve, we want to make a difference and we enjoy it.

We bring our skills to service participation and learn new skills along the way. We use our strengths and accept our limitations.

Have a look around the site.  There are descriptions of the different service roles that NA offers, from positions in your Home Groups, Sub-Committees and Area.  There are also resources for you to use to assist in your service roles.
