ARSC Meeting schedule

Australian Regional Service Committee (ARSC) Meetings are held in March, July, and November every year.

The March ARSC Meeting may be postponed to the second weekend owing to Asia Pacific Forum (APF) dates.

ARSC Meeting location

The March meeting is in-person and is held in Sydney.

The July meeting is held virtually, using the Zoom virtual meeting platform.

The November meeting is also in person and will be held in another capital City (To be Confirmed in the March ARSC meeting).

The ARSC will consider proposals to hold one ARSC Meeting every two years outside the usual locations. This would be held in a non-World Service Conference (WSC) year.

Virtual ARSC Meetings

The decision to hold virtual ARSC Meetings was made during the COVID pandemic. Ongoing assessment is made by ARSC Administration Committee in exceptional circumstances such as the pandemic, and any upcoming meeting may be held virtually where a scheduled in-person meeting is not possible.

Areas wishing to host an ARSC Meeting

Areas wishing to host an ARSC Meeting need to consider the following

  • giving adequate notice to the ARSC, normally at least 8 months’ notice (2 ARSC Meetings in advance)
  • cost and availability of a suitable venue
  • accommodation needs of ARSC participants
  • travel expenses of ARSC participants
  • support and interest of the local NA community
  • benefits for the local NA community

An Area wishing to host an ARSC Meeting contacts the ARSC Chair to request a phone or Zoom meeting between the Area and ARSC Admin Committees to discuss the possibility and logistics. The ARSC Admin will provide any information available about the costs of previous roving ARSC Meetings. They may provide cost estimates and other advice on practical considerations.

A proposal can then be taken to the next ARSC Meeting by the Area RCM.

The ARSC will

  • decide if any additional expense is justified by the benefits to the region
  • consider if the local support and commitment is sufficient to ensure proper organising and execution of the ARSC Meeting
  • approve or deny the proposal
  • if approved, assign a single point of contact and communication (preferably the Area RCM)
