The Australian Regional Service Committee (ARSC) may, from time to time and where need arises and funds permit, agree to fund Area Subcommittee Chairs to attend a regional combined Area Subcommittee workshop. This is a workshop held by region for all Areas to benefit from.

The region sees this as a useful way of utilising regional resources, however to ensure NA Australia Fellowship funds are spent wisely and promote direct accountability, the following guidelines apply:

  • The ARSC funds main travel costs only (airfares or petrol/bus/train)
  • Areas may fund their Chairs for taxi fares, accommodation, or meal allowances (region does not)
  • it is the Area participant’s responsibility to make travel and accommodation enquiries as early as needed, for the workshop
  • region will fund only the cheapest airfare available, at least 21 days in advance of the event. This is in line with its Travel policy and procedures. Contact the ARSC Treasurer and/or see this document for further guidance
  • If Areas have not taken action to purchase the cheapest fare, they will be expected to cover the difference between the fares. This is in line with ARSC Travel policy and procedures. Contact the ARSC Treasurer and/or see this document for further guidance
  • the region aims to spend funds on participants that have an ongoing commitment to the Area Subcommittee they serve. This is because they aim to have participants develop helpful networks with other trusted servants and learn new methods to help serve the fellowship, as well as communicate with other committed Area Subcommittee participants
  • as above, ideally the participant should be the Chair with significant time left in their term, or the Vice Chair intending to stand as Chair
  • participants need to attend for the entire workshop weekend
  • if participants do not attend the entire workshop weekend, they may not have all fares reimbursed
